A man respected for his talents and honored for his creative and charitable contributions has life in perspective. “I’ve come a long way from where I started but there’s still a stretch of highway to travel.” He is considered a modern Renaissance man--recording artist, record producer, award-winning songwriter, actor, filmmaker, and philanthropist. Born and raised in Tennessee, half way between Nashville and Memphis, he developed his passion for writing songs and performing at an early age. This eventually led him to Nashville where his Rockabilly/Americana sound exploded onto the national country scene in the 90s. He found success with his fresh and unique style of music and landed an MCA recording contract. He has toured across America and internationally with his band but found time to write for many of country’s hit makers, including Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, Billy Ray Cyrus, Martina McBride, George Jones and Alabama. Combining music and acting became natural for him as well as co-producing the critically acclaimed “I Still Miss Someone” in which he portrays a young Johnny Cash.. He was honored with The American Spirit Award for his patriotic service entertaining the armed forces around the world and at home. With a strong commitment to helping others, he became a national advocate for diabetes research having founded a charity joining music and racing for a cure. His charity event; “The Mark Collie Celebrity Race for Diabetes Cure” raised funds which established the first diabetes research chair at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is also a strong supporter for American Diabetes Association and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. When he’s off the road, he enjoys fishing and golfing in Tennessee.
